We Are Off to a Strong Start at HHCC!

The first term of the school year is complete and the students have been busy from the beginning. The Automotive Technology students completed the Y.E.S! Youth Employability Skills curriculum and met many employers from across the industry during the employer panel and mock interviews. FFA has been busy at leadership camps and community events. The Health Science Education students have already held one blood drive this year and are planning various community events. Culinary Arts students kicked off the Dew Drop Inn opening up for the year serving the public on Thursdays from 11:00am-1:00pm.  While these are only a few of our programs, they have all been working diligently. Instructors and students have jumped right into learning this year and things are rolling right along at HHCC!

FFA students volunteered their time on September 29 and 30 at the Peden Farm Children'sFarm Festival.  Each year, young children from several counties take field trips to have hands-on experiences with farm animals, hear from first responders, learn about the environment, and more.
The Automotive Technology students completed the Y.E.S! Youth Employability Skills curriculum during the first term of the school year.  Here the students met with business and industry leaders in their career field to learn more about their options for the future.  After this was over the students participated in mock interviews with the industry professionals and learned what professional level interviews are like.
The Health Science Education classes hosted the first blood drive of the year.  Each year these classes host several blood drives to benefit the community and also learn what running an event is like.  The students went around to classes and had permission slips signed, scheduled students, and assisted with helping students return safely to class.  They handled the first blood drive very well this year and are excited for another.
Career Pathway Fair!
The HHCC Career Pathway Fair will be held on Thursday, October 27th from 5:30pm-7:30pm. This is a wonderful opportunity for students, prospective students, and parent to investigate possible career pathways of interest.  All are invited to attend and learn more about our program options, meet with post-secondary schools and apprenticeship representatives, speak with companies from around the region, and watch student demonstrations based on what is happening in class. We hope to see you there!
