Join us for coffee/tea and breakfast bites to hear more about how Dr. McKeon has arrived at Caltech and has become not only a leader on campus but also in her field.
Dr. McKeon’s work focuses on experimental manipulation of wall-bounded flows for improved flow characteristics, such as reduction of drag, noise and structural loading or expansion of vehicle performance envelopes. Please follow the research link for more details.
WMW hosts coffee/lunches with limited spaces available for students & postdocs so that we can hear faculty stories about the paths taken (and not taken). In order to foster a space, everyone has a chance to ask questions and introduce themselves. We limit attendance to 10 people.

UG Research Submissions now being accepted for CURJ
CURJ is Caltech's award-winning undergraduate research journal, dedicated to highlighting the accomplishments of undergraduates conducting research at Caltech or JPL**. The journal is written in an accessible style to reach a broad audience, and all research articles are written by the undergraduates themselves.
We invite you to submit your work in any research field. General article requirements are very flexible, and if your article is selected for publication you will work with an editor who will help you revise your paper for final publication in CURJ. For submission guidelines and more information, go to curj.caltech.edu
Rise Program Tutors Needed
The Caltech Y is now accepting new tutors for the Rise Program. The program typically takes 100 tutors each year. Tutoring with the Rise Program is a great way to give back to the community and work with local school students to help them succeed in math and science. and view the tutor information page. Tutors are especially needed to start the program in September and will continue to be accepted throughout the year.
About the Program:
The Rise Program is a afterschool math and science tutoring program for public school students between grades 8 and 12. The program is in its sixth year and helps students who are struggling in math or science (getting a C or below). The tutoring takes place on the Caltech campus Monday-Thursday from 4pm-6pm. The program is designed to help students gain greater competency in math foundations, improve skills in math and science and prepare students for college-level math and science. Tutors work with 1-2 students and when possible work with the same student(s) throughout the year.
Tutors should be able to commit to at least 2 terms per year and 1-2 days per week. The schedule is based on the tutor’s availability. Tutoring sessions are 2 hours.

Caltech Space Challenge 2017—Caltech will host the Space Challenge—a five-day international student space mission design competition—from March 26-31, 2017. For the competition, 32 students from a range of backgrounds are invited to Caltech, formed into two teams, and given a mission design problem. The teams attend lectures related to mission planning, are given the necessary development tools, and are challenged to produce a viable mission design. Undergraduate or graduate students of any nationality are eligible to apply. The application window opens September 1 and continues through December 16.
