Brrrrr! Twin Star Orchards Finally Gets A Taste Of Winter

The wide variety of apple trees on New Paltz' Twin Star Orchards were getting a bit nervous with the warm front that filled November and December. But alas, Winter has finally breathed its cold howl, and while the rest of us may be rushing to the nearest fireplace, the Twin Star trees couldn't be happier. Like their fellow Hudson Valley trees, the cold and frost are just as important to their growth as the warm summer sun. So at least we can rest assured that someone is benefiting from these single digit temperatures.

Our brand new deer fence has finally been completed, just in time for the variety of heirloom apple trees arriving in mid-April. Deers tend to snack on the baby trees, stinting their growth. The small trees arriving in April will need a few years before reaching full bloom, so it is extremely important to keep them cozy and safe through the process.
