AUGUST EVENTS--Uptown, Downtown, it's our Town!

Aug. 1- 7, Centrum Acoustic Blues Festival - look for Blues in the Clubs Aug. 5th & 6th.
Aug 4, Port Townsend Main Street's Concerts on the Dock featuring Toolshed Trio with Abakis! Seating opens at 4:30, Music from 5-7:30 pm at Pope Marine Plaza! Local vendors and a Beer/Wine & Cider Garden contribute to the festive atmosphere. We couldn't do it without our generous series sponsors--THANK YOU Homer Smith Insurance, City of Port Townsend, Kitsap Credit Union, Uptown Pub & Grill, PT Fudge Co., The CoLab, KPTZ 91.9 FM and the Peninsula Daily News.

Key City Public Theatre presents Shakespeare in the Park: The Two Gentlemen of Verona. Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Chetzemoka Park.

Jefferson County Historical Society First Friday Lecture: Native Peoples’ Presence in Port Townsend, 7 pm in the Port Townsend City Council Chambers, 540 Water Street.

Free Fridays at the Fort, Centrum’s free lunchtime concert & reading series takes place on the lawn of the Nora Porter Commons at Fort Worden State Park from 12-1 pm.

Aug. 6, Summer Cider Day at the NW Maritime Center. Over 70 Ciders and local fare available from Sirens Pub.

Blues, Brews & BBQ with Florida Blues Legend Sarasota Slim at Ichikawa Sushi Bar & Steak House.
Aug. 6, Free Saturday in the Museums (all day) and Gallery Walk, 5:30 - 8 pm. Also, Port Townsend School of the Arts will be having an Open House & Faculty Art Show from 1-4 pm.

Aug. 6-7, PT Shorts, a free, monthly program featuring dramatic readings of contemporary literature, produced by Key City Public Theatre, presented by Northwind Arts Center and sponsored by the Port Townsend Arts Commission.

Aug 7-13, Centrum Dance This Camp, providing an opportunity for high school students to study a wide range of dance styles and techniques in a supportive, yet challenging atmosphere.

Aug. 10, Connect the Dots at Girls' Night Out -- Merchants, join us for a planning meeting to learn all about Girls' Night Out and get tips on how you can plan a fun and successful GNO promotion. At Alchemy Bistro and Wine Bar from 8:30-9:45 am.

Aug. 11, Port Townsend Main Street's Concerts on the Dock featuring Olympic Express Big Band!  Seating opens at 4:30, Music from 5-7:30 pm at Pope Marine Plaza! Mo Chilli BBQ will be onsite cooking up mouth watering Texas style BBQ!

Aug. 12-14, Jefferson County FairAn old-fashioned country fair with fun for the whole family. Lots of free entertainment. Draft horse pulls, team roping, 4-H exhibits, Professor Bamboozle, Got Bull, Lobo del Mar and much more.

Aug. 13, KPTZ 91.9 FM Summer Swing--Dance Party at the Palindrome, 1893 S. Jacob Miller Rd. featuring Gypsy Jazz & Swing by Ranger & The Re-Arrangers. Silent auction & raffle, Eaglemount wine & cider. The Spot is catering this fundraiser and offering crab cakes, seafood chowder & pulled pork sandwiches for sale. Tickets $10, doors open at 6 pm; event starts at 7 pm.  This is a 21+ event.
Aug. 13-14, 20-21 & 27-28Olympic Music Festival continues the 2016 summer season in partnership with Centrum at Fort Worden State Park.

Aug. 18, Port Townsend Main Street's Concerts on the Dock featuring Cold Comfort with Kilcid Band! Seating opens at 4:30, Music from 5-7:30 pm at Pope Marine Plaza! Paella House will be onsite cooking up delicious Paella! Grab a friend and come out for a rockin' good time!

Aug. 20, Summer's Here! It's time for the UPTOWN STREET FAIRGreat local music, the Port Townsend Arts & Crafts Fair, the Jefferson County Farmers’ Market, tasty food on the street, free art activities for families and much more…  The Arts and Crafts Fair and Farmer’s Market begin at 9 am, children’s activities follow from 10 am - 3 pm, and music from 10 am to 5 pm. The Uptown Pub is hosting an outdoor beer garden too. The “GRANDLY LOCAL PARADE” is at 2 pm. Come make a day of it in historic, fun Uptown. Coordinated by the Port Townsend Main Street Program and sponsored by generous local businesses.  Also on Aug. 20, Kiwanis 27th Annual Classic Car Show at Memorial Field!

Aug. 21,
All County Picnicfostering community and raising awareness about local emergency resources. The Picnic is a chance to shake hands with local law enforcement, eat (free!) corn on the cob with your neighbors and learn about the resources that exist to serve you and your community. Featuring live music, food vendors, group games, information booths, speakers and demonstrations, and kids' activities,  this celebration is as fun as it is informing.

Aug. 25, Port Townsend Main Street's Concerts on the Dock featuring Joy in Mudville! Seating opens at 4:30, Music from 5-7:30 pm at Pope Marine Plaza! Mo Chilli BBQ will be onsite cooking up mouth watering Texas style BBQ!

PTeRider is hiring - looking for an outgoing, very personable person willing to work 16 hours a week in the evenings and weekends.  Must be RELIABLE, smart, willing to do history tours, good driver with a clean driving record.  Willingness to wear goofy clothes helpful. The Washington State Main Street Program held its quarterly Leadership Training in Port Townsend July 20-22. The Port Townsend Main Street Program enjoyed hosting this group of 39 Main Street Managers and board members from across the state. Special tours, presentations, workshops, shopping and socializing at Concerts on the Dock were on the agenda. Thanks to PT Fudge Co. and  Lively Olive Tasting Bar
for contributing to the welcome bags.

Main Street Tax Incentive Program

Washington State has reached its cap for 2016. Thank you to the participants who were able to pledge to Port Townsend for the 2016 Main Street Tax Incentive Program.
It's never too early to start thinking about next year! Put Your State B&O Taxes To Work Here In Port Townsend Through The Main Street Tax Incentive Program for 2017.

The Port Townsend Main Street Program is pleased to offer the opportunity to put your state B&O tax dollars to work here Port Townsend through the work of our program. In 2005, the Port Townsend Main Street Program worked with other revitalization programs across the state to introduce and help pass legislation creating a state B&O Tax Credit Incentive Program for businesses investing in local downtown revitalization programs like ours.

75% of your donation is returned to you via B&O tax credits in 2018. In addition, your entire contribution may qualify as a 501(c)(3) charitable deduction on your 2017 federal income tax return.

The Port Townsend Main Street Program can receive up to $133,333 in contributions. Approvals are given each year on a first-come, first-served basis as of January 1.
