Feb. 3 Jefferson County Library in Port Hadlock talk--Are you ready for the "Really Big One" on the Quimper Peninsula? Wednesday, February 3 at 6:30 pm, earthquake geologist Michael Machette will discuss the possible effects of a M9 earthquake on the Cascade subduction zone.

Port Townsend Library Open Houselove your library this February with a valentine-themed open house from 10 am - 7 pm. 
 
Feb. 5, Jefferson Healthcare Foundation hosts first annual WellHearts Luncheon at the Northwest Maritime Center from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm. February is Heart Health Month and this event is part of the campaign to educate and raise awareness about the critical issue of heart health for women. 

Feb. 5, First Friday Lecture with Tom Jay on the lost wax bronze casting process, presented by the Jefferson County Historical Society at 7 pm.

Feb. 6, Art Walk, see an amazing array of art, not only in our art galleries but in the restaurants, shops and hotels...it's everywhere!

Port Townsend Main Street Executive Director Mari Mullen attended the quarterly Main Street Manager Meeting in Olympia Jan. 19 and 20. In addition to trainings, the group attended the Heritage Caucus and held a coffee meeting for Legislators/staff to share news about the work taking place in Main Street communities across the state.

Open Mic with Jack Reid has moved to The Cellar Door, every Monday at 6pm! Signups start at 6pm, opening act starts at 6:30pm, and the open mic show begins at 7pm. Free!


The Jefferson County Historical Society seeks nominations for the annual Historic Preservation Awards. The awards honor individuals and organizations that restore original structures or preserve traditions that form the historic fabric of Jefferson County. Nomination forms can be found on line at JCHSMuseum.org or may be picked up at the JCHS headquarters in historic City Hall, 540 Water Street, Port Townsend. The deadline for submissions is February 29.

MAIN STREET TAX INCENTIVE PROGRAM

Washington State has reached its cap for 2016! Thank you to the following who were able to pledge to Port Townsend for the 2016 Main Street Tax Incentive Program.

Port Townsend was founded in 1851 and is located approximately 50 miles Northwest of Seattle. Port Townsend has a population of approximately 9,300 and is the County Seat and is the only incorporated city of Jefferson County. In addition to its natural scenery, the City is known for many Victorian buildings remaining from its late 19th-century heyday, numerous annual cultural events, and as a maritime center for independent boat-builders and related industries and crafts. March 18-20, Victorian Heritage Festival, celebrate Port Townsend's history. The Port Townsend Main Street Program will once again offer the popular "Insider's Historic Building Tours" in support of the Festival. Space is limited. Get your tickets at www.vicfest.org. Proceeds benefit Olympic Peninsula Steam and The Port Townsend Main Street Program, both 501c3 nonprofits.
Please note: a number of the historic buildings dating from the 1880s are accessed by steep stairways.
