Notes From the New World Celebrates North American Premiere at LA Film Festival.

VMP Films is proud to announce that our Dostoyevsky-inspired film, Notes from the New World, will have its North American premiere at the 2nd Los Angeles World International Film Festival October 18 at the Crest-Westwood Theatre in Los Angeles. The film, which is part of our Dostoyevsky-LA Project will be screened at 7 p.m. The cast and crew will be on-hand for the red carpet ceremony prior to the film. Information about the premiere, and a link to purchase tickets is available at

Notes from the New World is a contemporary retelling of Dostoyevsky's Notes from the Underground. The story unfolds in Los Angeles, where dreams and harsh realities collide, a place where almost everyone spies on everyone else, and everyone seems to be playing a dangerous game. The film was written, directed and produced by Vitaly Sumin, the President of VM Productions  who posits that it is both an adaptation and a continuation of Dostoyevsky’s work, as well as a re-telling of one of Dostoyevsky’s classics. Notes from the New World stars Rebecca Sigl-Light (click here to see the interview with Rebecca), Natasha Blasick (please see below the interview with Natasha), Nathanael Theisen (the interview in the works) and many other talented actors.  In May 2016 the film participated in Los Angeles Neo Noir Novel, Film & Script Festival where it was screened solely for the industry professionals and a team of anonymous judges and got Bronze Award.

VM Productions, and the cast and crew are excited to be a part of it. We have a non-exclusive distribution agreement with Intellect Pictures, a film production, finance and distribution Corporation based in Los Angeles and Toronto. Intellect Pictures opted to submit Notes from the New World to this festival because it has a good reputation for screening high quality films that reach a wide international audience. The World International Film Festival is a global industry event held around the year in the world’s biggest cities. The around-the-world festival tour showcases some of the very best independent films on the scene today.

VM Productions is dedicated to the art of independent filmmaking. The company develops and produces quality films based on original stories and the masterpieces of world literature. The creative team behind VM Productions admires the great artists of all times. The richness and complexity of their existence and the discoveries they made to help humanity move forward toward a better understanding of life, death, peace and coexistence serve as the source of their inspiration.

Actress Natasha Blasick, who stars in VM Productions film, Notes from the New World, is an accomplished actress with film credits in more than 40 films, including Alien Battlefield, The Black Russian, and the mock muster Paranoid Activity 2.  Natasha recently announced that she has been cast in an upcoming comedy feature film starring Jamie Foxx.

Natasha was born in the former USSR in the city of Odessa on the Black Sea. She moved to the United States when she married her husband, American Martin Blasick, and she made her debut as a lead actress in the film Death of Evil (2009).

In the film Notes from the New World, which has won numerous awards at numerous prestigious festivals in Europe, Natasha plays the role of Sonia, a beautiful young stalker who vies for the attention of Steven, a struggling actor, who ends up at the center of the drama both on- and off-stage.

Earlier this year we posted an interview with Natasha and fellow actress Julia Emelin, where she talked about auditioning for Notes from the New World and playing the part of Sonia in this movie. In the interview, she talks about her love of Dostoyevsky and how much she enjoyed playing this role. You can see the interview, which was recently posted on Vimeo, below. As of this writing, Natasha has just BOOKED for a great comedy role in the movie where she will perform along with Jamie Foxx!

Natasha, along with several members of the cast and crew, will attend the Premiere of Notes from the New World in Los Angeles on October 18. She will be part of the red carpet ceremony prior to the film, as well as a Q&A session afterwards. For tickets and information please visit or go directly to Crest Westwood Theater's website.
