City of Philadelphia
Dear Philadelphians:

“How can I get more involved?” — it’s a refrain I’ve heard over and over the past few weeks at meetings and school visits, on the street, and through Twitter.

Philadelphians, now more than ever, are showing why we’re known as the City of Brotherly Love. One way we can show that is by continuing to work in partnership — citizens and city workers — to make our neighborhoods the best they can be.

That’s why I’m excited to announce a special opportunity for you to learn more about how City government works: The Civic Engagement Academy. This eight-week course will feature a different City Department every week, and leaders from that department will highlight resources they provide.

The first course begins next month, so if you want to learn how to use City resources to make a difference in your neighborhood, sign up now!

By the end of the course, you’ll have a deeper understanding of how City departments work together — and how we can better work to help you and your neighborhood.

Every Philadelphian is encouraged to participate. There are no requirements aside from a passion for making our city a better place and a commitment to attending all eight courses. If a current training opportunity doesn’t work for you, sign up to get notified about future trainings.

The huge outpouring of support Philadelphians have shown for one another over the last month has been inspiring. Now, I’m asking you to take that next step and learn more about the services our City offers and how you can use them to make your neighborhood an even brighter place to live.

So what are you waiting for? Sign up to join one of our upcoming sessions, or to get notified when a new one is scheduled!

I often say it’s not what I’m going to do, it’s what we’re going to do. And, together, I know we can continue building a Philadelphia that works for all.

In service,

Jim Kenney
