your fresh foodie news!

The month of March usually signals the start of Spring, and here at The Providore, we are all about fresh picks, delicious recipes and exciting beginnings.

Our cheese of the month is Brillat Savarin, a decadent triple cream cheese that tastes as rich as it sounds. With buttery and nutty flavours, the cheese pairs perfectly with our selected accompaniment - a champagne jelly preserve from Champagne Dumangin. The champagne jelly is also a great match to foie gras and patés on freshly sliced baguette.

Rounding off the trio is Nino Franco's Rustico Prosecco, an elegant sparkling wine with notes of fresh fruit. The efferverscence of the drink cleanses the palate of the heaviness of cheeses such as Brillat Savarin, and having the two together is a gastronomic experience not to be missed.

Starting this month, we shine the spotlight on our private label products, and share the stories behind each item that we have lovingly sourced and produced.
For March, we are featuring an item that is almost synonymous with our brand: our coffee.

The great tasting brew that we serve up in our cafes is our Main Blend; a medium to dark roast that is roasted exclusively in Melbourne by Brother Basil. The beans are only roasted to order, meaning that we have complete control over the freshness of the beans. Unlike wine, coffee tastes better when it is fresher, and it's a common misconception that aged coffee tastes better.

Controlling the roast of the beans makes it easier for us to achieve consistency; meaning that each cup of coffee we serve tastes as good from cup to cup, day after day. In order to get a consistent brew, our baristas calibrate the grind and brew ratio each day to ensure our customers get a delicious cuppa joe each time.

The Providore Main Blend makes a robust cuppa, with floral and sweet fruity notes, and a chocolatey aftertaste, and is suitable for brewing in various methods: pour-over, french press, cold brew...etc.

Try our coffee today at our cafes, or purchase a packet of beans/Nespresso compatible pods and bring home The Providore Coffee experience.
For March, we are pleased to have our Vietnamese cuisine instructor, Stephanie, conducting her easy and healthy Vietnamese class where students will be introduced to the cuisine, and learn how to make a fresh and delicious chicken salad, as well as chicken soup noodles.

We also have cake baking and decoration classes inspired by the colours of spring - pastel pinks, blues and greens. The classes are suitable for kids as well, so bring the young ones for a fun time of family bonding! Click here to access our booking site.

Here are recipes developed by our in-house cooking instructors that are meant to inspire and share how to use The Providore's products to create delicious and wholesome dishes that can be enjoyed by all.
Hummus is one of those versatile and delicious dishes that we simply cannot get enough of. Usually eaten as a dip with flat bread or breadsticks, hummus is also great as a topping on linguettes, served canape style. For this recipe, we have added beetroot to the mix, adding a delicious pop of colour that will make your dining table look and taste amazing.

For the hummus

1 packet / tin Chickpeas
250g Roasted beetroot
Half tsp Chilli salt / celery & lime salt to taste
Half Lemon
1 clove Garlic
2 tbsp Tahini
2 tsp Ground cumin
1 tsp Smoked paprika
100ml Extra virgin olive oil

For garnishing

Stem of Fresh dill (chopped finely)

1. Wash and peel beetroot, cut into quarters and grill at 180°C in the oven for 15- 20 minutes until soft.
2. Toast the chickpeas with the ground cumin in a panwith a little olive oil until golden.
3. Place the chickpeas, spices and all the ingredients apart from the dill into a food processor, and blend till smooth.
4. Transfer hummus into a serving bowl and sprinkle chopped dill to taste

Serving idea:
Serve the beetroot hummus topped with baby kale leaves, feta cheese, and a little cilantro on flat breads as a delicious canape for parties and gatherings.
