Important Changes for Nonprofit Managers

Accounting Standards
From Nonprofit Quarterly:
"The Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) issued a new accounting standard for nonprofits in mid-August that’s meant to help nonprofits to tell their story more transparently through their financials. The new guidance will be the standard for fiscal years beginning after December 15, 2017."   Read more here

Salary Threshold for Overtime Wages
From National Council of Nonprofits:
"On May 18, 2016, U.S. Labor Department announced overtime final regulations that, when they go into effect on December 1, 2016, will mean that many employees earning less than $913 per week ($47,500 annually) will be entitled to overtime compensation, regardless of whether they are currently classified as executive, administrative, or professional (white-collar) workers."  Read more here.

The Public Art Committee in Havre de Grace is sponsoring a Holiday Gallery at 220 N. Washington Street in downtown Havre de Grace for eight weekends beginning Friday, November 4 through December 24.  Artworks in various mediums from local and regional artists and artisans will be on sale including paintings, photography, textiles, jewelry, pottery, and glassware and much more.  There will be special performances and demonstrations for all to enjoy. Proceeds will benefit the Public Art Committee in Havre de Grace.

Local nonprofits are invited to use this beautiful space during the holiday season on Mondays through Thursdays for holiday gatherings or meetings- at no charge. Plus the Holiday Gallery will donate 10% of any art sales that occur during the time of the event!
CALL TO VISUAL ARTISTS

The Washington County Arts Council (WCAC), along with the committee members of the Western Maryland Blues Fest (WMBF), are pleased to invite visual artists to answer a “Call to Visual Artists” for the opportunity of becoming the 2017 Blues Fest Visual Artist.

The 22nd annual Western Maryland Blues Fest is scheduled for June 1-4, 2017. Your original work of art will be commissioned by the WCAC and the City of Hagerstown, and will be used to create posters, t-shirts, programs and promotional materials. A raffle is conducted for the original piece throughout the 4-day festival to help raise funds for the Western Maryland Blues Fest.

Artists who are interested in having their work reviewed by the WCAC and the Blues Fest Committee for a chance at becoming the 2017 Blues Fest Visual Artist are encouraged to submit up to three (3) entries. All digital entries must be submitted no later than noon on November 16, 2016. Submitting artists will be notified about the committee’s decision the week of November 30, 2016 by phone and by mail.  Click here to download submission packet.
